Direttore di latta is a short piece for a 37-key concert grand Toy Piano and Tin Automat (drummer).

 

The inner philosophy of the piece is about being led by a Tin Conductor with a random feeling of rhythm. The performer has to adapt himself to the specific rallentando of the moment, listening to the distorted rhythm and following the indications of the score. Its performance is not a question of precision in notes and rhythms, but rather evokes the imprecision of such a simple toy. Sometimes it seems like a dialogue between performers, conductor and pianist. Others, just a dictatorship of a tiny tin toy.

 

It is divided in 3 sections between which the performer has to wind the toy when the score indicates it.
